Pricing Restructure – Designed Around You

Dear Members,

Thank you for your continued support of PAL. Over recent weeks, many of you have shared thoughtful feedback about our pricing restructure. We have listened carefully, especially to:

• Couples attending together

• Members who attend multiple classes each week

• Long-standing members who have supported PAL

Your honesty and commitment mean a great deal to us, and your feedback has shaped the updated options below. As a charity, PAL remains dedicated to helping people stay strong, stay independent, and protect their lifestyle for longer. To continue delivering high-quality classes and support services, we must also ensure long-term financial sustainability, due to an ever changing climate.

Our default membership fee is £21* per month, paid via Card, Standing order or an online link. However, we recognise that everyone’s circumstances are different, so we have introduced a range of flexible options designed to suit individual needs.

Option 1 – Pay As You Go: Perfect for members who prefer flexibility. £8 per session, attend as often or as little as you choose.

Option 2 – Couples Membership: We recognise the value of exercising together. £35 per month per couple. Ideal for couples who attend the same class together and prefer a simple monthly arrangement.

Option 3 – Active Lifestyle discount: Designed for members who attend more than one class per week. Enjoy 50% off your 2nd or 3rd session in the same week, with flexible payment methods. A great way to stay active while keeping costs manageable.

Option 4 Stay Strong Rewards: We love celebrating your commitment. Our PAL Stay Strong Rewards will be presented at the Christmas Party each year, with a variety of recognition prizes for members who attend regularly.

Bank Holiday Clause

If you pay monthly and your usual class falls on a bank holiday, you will be able to attend any other PAL class within that same month at no extra cost.

Your instructor will provide you with a PAL Voucher, which you can hand to the instructor at the alternative session, so you are not charged.

Flexibility for Monthly Payers

We understand that life changes from month to month. Our standard monthly fee is £21 per month, but this payment method is completely flexible. If you normally pay monthly but have a two-week holiday booked as an example, or other factors you know of in advance which may mean you cannot attend as regularly, you may choose to switch to Pay As You

Go for that month instead. This can be changed month by month, giving you full control over your membership.

Loyalty Card – New for 2026

To reward regular attendance, we are introducing a simple loyalty card:

Attend 10 sessions → Get 1 session FREE Your instructor will stamp your card each time you attend. You can use this voucher however you see fit.

PAL Opportunities

We are developing a new project in Walsall in partnership with Walsall Public Health. Those who meet the WPH criteria will receive an invitation to this opportunity, with priority access for long standing members before it is offered more widely. Further details will be shared soon.

We will be holding an informal Q&A session on Tuesday 21/07 between 10am–1pm at Aldridge Community Centre. Members of the PAL team, (including myself) will be available to answer questions about any of the options above or discuss personal circumstances, confidentially. All PAL members are welcome.

New Start Date for Price Changes

All new price increases will now begin on 01/09/2026. This extended notice period gives members more time to speak with the team, raise any further questions, and feel confident about the option that suits them best. Many of these changes have been shaped directly by the feedback we have received, while ensuring we can continue offering a sustainable, high-quality programme for all members.

These updates reflect our commitment to supporting local communities while recognising the loyalty and dedication of our members. If you would like help choosing the option that best suits you, please speak to your instructor or contact the PAL office at: info@palcharity.org.uk

Thank you for being part of the PAL family. Together we can continue helping people stay strong, stay independent, and protect their lifestyle for longer.

Yours sincerely,

Did you know the cost of falls:

Investing in falls prevention doesn’t just change lives, it also saves money across health and care services.

Research shows that for every £1 invested in FaME (Falls Management Exercise), at least £2.36 is saved in healthcare costs, alongside an estimated £50.59 public health social return for every £1 invested.

Preventative community programmes help reduce pressure on NHS and social care services while supporting older adults to remain independent and connected.

Thanks you to our funders, volunteers and members for trusting PAL to be the specialist in Independence!

Falls can have a huge impact on confidence, independence, and health. They can also lead to significant healthcare costs:

• Hip fracture: £14,642

• Ambulance call-out: £249

• Hospital stay per day: £1,104

The good news? Evidence shows that structured strength and balance programmes help older adults stay physically active even 12 months after intervention, with real-world outcomes comparable to clinical trials.

Prevention really does make a difference. The earlier you start, the better - Its time to invest in your health!
